Bienvenue! Welcome to France.
Your journey begins with a transfer from Geneva airport. As we are aiming for the earliest possible departure from the airport we ask that everyone books early flights so that we can make the most of the first day. From the airport we head off to the mountains. The transfer takes around two hours (flight and traffic dependent). For those wishing to stock up on local French produce, we can include a stop at a supermarket if required.
Once we arrive we will take you to your accommodation where you can then get settled in and unpacked. The welcome meeting will follow after a short lunch. After the welcome meeting we will assemble and hand out our Nordic Walking poles if needed. We then stretch our legs with our first walk in the picturesque village and explore some of the new surroundings and terrain.
We will also learn and practice our Nordic Walking skills. Nordic Walking is an enhancement of normal walking with the use of Nordic Walking poles.

Les Chiming des Vies
After a filling and healthy breakfast, we will walk from the village of Bowel through the old quaint quarter (Tombides) behind the chapel of Saint Barbed.
We will follow the balcony route passing the old vines until we reach Saulce at the top of Brides Les Bain (an Olympic village in the 1992 Winter Olympics).
Brides Les Bains is a lovely Savoyard town created in 1848 and renowned for its slimming cures and spas. It has a number of bars and restaurants as well as the only casino in the three valleys. This route is ideal to practice your technique to help gain speed with the use of the Nordic poles. The walk today is 16 kilometres.
The return is along the same balcony path, the only difference being the uphill incline ... at this point we will be thankful for our poles!
For those of us with a little extra in the tank we can we can walk around the Lac de Bozel past its sandy beach and on to explore the cross country ski path.

Beautiful Lac Rosiere and Cascade des Poux
A fresh walk in the woods beside a waterfall running from the spring mountains melting snow - this is a photographers delight.
Lac de la Rosiere (roughly a 10 minute drive) is a torques lake in a hidden valley which resembles the Rockies in Canada.
Enjoy the beautiful forest and cascading golden waters surrounded by rich flowers in the beginning of summer at Courchevel Moriond (also known as Courchevel 1650).
Departure time from the chalet is at 9.30am. Lunch will be in one of the local restaurants or picnic depending on the weather. Best not to eat too much though, as tea and cakes will be on offer when we return to the chalet.
Wednesday 13 June 2018
Wednesday is for something new… a surprise walk to an unknown destination that we have not yet visited. It will include a mountain refuge lunch and the chance to see the ibex, bouquetin, marmots, wild flowers and lots more.

Chez Ma Cousine Restaurant on the shores of Lake Annecy
A wonderful location in Annecy for our last lunch on the shores of lake Annecy, you couldn’t ask for a better setting to finish your holiday. A little holiday luxury with great views, well done you deserve it.

Pralognan en Vanoise National Park Refuge Roc de la Pêche
Our driver will collect us from the chalet at 9.00am. We will drive to Pralognan in Vanoise National Park – the drive takes approximately 30 minutes. Pralognan became the first mountaineering centre in the Savoie after Chamonix. It is at the foot of the Vanoise pass offering a direct route between France and Italy.
We follow a route which provides a gradual climb up along a wide valley offering a double panorama of Glaciers de la Vanoise and Polset to the Refuge du Roc de la Pêche – a great place to stop for a refreshing coffee or cooling drink.
On the trek to the summit of Col du Soufre (2819m), you will be likely to see marmots and chamois in abundance.
The return is by the same route - ascent is 3hrs and the descent is 2hrs.
